Our Small Animal out-of-hours service is provided by Vets Now

At House and Jackson we know your pets are part of your family and our priority is, and always will be, to ensure they have access to the very best care, no matter what time of day or night it is.

Vets Now is the pet equivalent of an accident and emergency service and the leading provider of pet emergency care in the UK. Based at more than 560 locations nationwide, their vets and vet nurses respond to half-a-million pet emergencies every year. Moreover, their veterinary teams are specially trained in emergency and critical care and work only out of hours, through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays. That means they are ready and waiting to see you and your pet, whether it’s in the early hours of the morning or late on a Sunday night.

What does this mean to me?

Between the hours of 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am-5pm Saturday and Sunday, we provide you and your pet with the highest standards of veterinary care. If your pet has been admitted to our hospital at Blackmore they remain under our care and looked after by our staff. If you pet falls ill on a Saturday or Sunday between 8am and 5pm your call is answered by our staff at the Blackmore Hospital and your pet will be seen and treated there if needed. However, if your pet falls ill outside of these times your call will be directed to the Vets Now team, who will be happy to talk through your concerns and provide any treatment they might need.

If your pet needs to be seen by the Vets Now team you will need to take them to the Vets Now hospital in Witham, the address of which is: Vets Now Witham, Spring Lodge Farm, Powers Hall End, Witham, CM8 2HG.

If your pet has to be hospitalised by the Vets Now team, one of our clinical staff will go and collect them the following morning and bring them to our Blackmore hospital, where they will stay and be looked after by our own staff until they are well enough to go home.

How do I get hold of the emergency service when my pet is ill?

Whatever time of day or night that your pet falls ill you still just ring your usual practice number: 01277 823 858, 01277 655 524 or 01245 423 162.

When you hear the recorded message PRESS 2 to be put through to a Small Animal vet.

At House and Jackson we have always been proud to have our own staff provide out of hours care to your pets. Unfortunately, there is currently a national shortage of Vets and this has meant that we are currently unable to recruit enough staff to suitably cover our out of hours – our existing staff have come under ever increasing pressure to work long hours in order to cover this. We feel that it is important to provide excellent round the clock care for you and your pet but also to look after our staff in order that they are functioning at their best to provide your pets with gold standard care. We are proud to be working with Vets Now and believe this new partnership offers you and your pet the best level of care both day and night. If you have any questions about this new service, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

PLEASE NOTE: OUR EQUINE OUT-OF-HOURS SERVICE REMAINS THE SAME AS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN
