Modern diagnostic work in medicine depends on the use of a variety of techniques and for each patient the vet will create a plan to get to the diagnosis as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. We do not believe in running diagnostic tests unnecessarily and are always happy to discuss the costs and benefits of any dagnostic procedures we propose.

We have equipment such as electronic intravenous fluid pumps to ensure rapid and effective delivery of therapy to our patients. When a patient is hospitalised with us, the vet responsible for his or her care creates a treatment plan. Each day, that plan is reviewed by the nurses in charge of the kennels so that progress may be kept closely monitored. We have an isolation area for infectious cases and for vulnerable patients.

Veterinary surgery is always changing and the vets at House and Jackson move with the times. By investing in equipment and training we are able to offer a high level of surgical expertise. No surgery should be seen as completely “routine”. Our techniques for surgery and anaesthesia help to minimise the risks and help your pets on their way to a speedy and comfortable recovery.

Veterinary science is becoming increasingly sophisticated and, as with human medicine, we are now using an increasing range of laboratory tests to aid diagnosis and treatment. At House and Jackson we have our own fully equipped laboratory facilities and a qualified, full time technician. This enables us to undertake a complete range of tests on our own premises. This means we can obtain results more quickly and this facilitates more precise diagnosis and treatment at an early stage as an aid to rapid recovery.

Microchipping is now a very well-established method for permanently identifying animals. Every year, lost animals are returned to their owners thanks to the microchips they are carrying. Chips are easily inserted into the scruff in just the same way as an injection is given.
Contact your nearest Pet Clinic to make an appointment.
We can also supply a range of high-quality name tags and collars.
Appointments and Home Visits
You can make an appointment to see a vet or a nurse by simply making a telephone call to one of our Pet Clinics. Home visits are available by appointment throughout the practice area. A visit charge is applied in addition to consultation fees. If you need a non-emergency Visit please phone before 9:30am so we can best organise a suitable time. Bear in mind that the service we can offer on a visit is more limited than that which can be offered at the clinic.

Behavioural Consultations
Not all the problems we see are physical. Behavioural problems are a frequent source of distress, both to animals and their owners. Joy Davies is our fully trained pet behaviourist and has solved many frustrating and awkward behavioural problems. She can give advice over the phone, but finds that home visits are often the best way to get to the heart of a problem.

Good dental health and high quality dental work are a vital part of the overall health of your pet. Sore gums and loose teeth are serious sources of pain and infection. With Ultrasonic dental descaling and polishing we can get your pet's mouth back to a healthy state. We are very keen to advise you on the best care for your pet’s teeth, and our nurses and vets can demonstrate how to brush your pet's teeth to maintain good oral health.
Fancy taking your dog somewhere hot and sunny? Ask us about going abroad with your pets.Export and Travel Advice
The Pet Travel Scheme (PeTS) means that dogs can now travel easily to the UK from a number of foreign countries. It is essential that correct protocols are followed and we are happy to advise on this. The requirements include microchipping and rabies vaccination. However, it is also important to consider diseases other than rabies to which your pet may be exposed while they are abroad. Heartworm and Leishmaniasis are two important examples. We can advise on the best preventative measures.
For export and importation of animals to and from non-PeTS countries a range of requirements exist. In some instances, where the requirements are complex, we strongly recommend that you secure the services of an export agent. DEFRA should be contacted for detailed advice on export requirements.
