See below for information on Emergency Services for Horses, Pets, Wildlife and Strays

FOR HORSE CLIENTS

If your HORSE needs help urgently, please call the following telephone number:

01277 823808

During the daytime a nurse or receptionist will answer the phone and arrange for a vet to see your animal.

In the evening and at night you will be given the Duty Vet's radiopager number. You call that number and leave a message for the vet and they will contact you.

PAYMENT: Unless you have a previously arranged account with House & Jackson, you will need to make arrangements to pay at the time of the emergency service.

FOR PET CLIENTS

If your PET needs help urgently, please call following telephone number:

01277 823858

During the daytime a nurse or receptionist will answer the phone and arrange for a vet to see your animal.

In the evening and at night you will be given the Duty Vet's radiopager number. You call that number and leave a message for the vet and they will contact you.

PAYMENT: You will need to pay for all treatment at the time of service other than in exceptional circumstances.

VISITS: Home visits can be arranged in exceptional circumstances, but these are rarely in the best interests of a sick animal who will have to be moved to the clinic to receive effective treatment and simply delay access to the range of facilities we have at the clinic.

EMERGENCY CLINIC: In most cases you will be seen at the Blackmore Clinic where we have the best facilities for the full range of care that an emergency case might need.

WILDLIFE CASUALTIES

If you have found wildlife injured on the road, especially deer, it is the responsibility of the POLICE to secure the scene and summon veterinary attention. You should dial 999 to report the incident.

Casualties of small species (birds, rabbits etc) can often be managed overnight by members of the public if they are able to provide a secure warm space. They can then be brought to one of our clinics in normal working hours or you may contact a WILDLIFE RESCUE CHARITY.

STRAY ANIMALS

Stray dogs are the responsibility of the DOG WARDEN services of your Borough Council and they should be contacted first. However, they typically provide no emergency service. If you find an injured stray dog then phone 01277 823858 for advice. If they are uninjured and you can keep them safe until normal working hours then contact your local DOG WARDEN.

Stray cats are looked after by no public authority. If you find an injured stray cat then phone 01277 823858 for advice. If they are uninjured and genuinely stray then contact one of the CAT RESCUE CHARITIES.

We receive little or no funding for handling and caring for stray and wild animals.
